Jordan a country bordering Saudi Arabia and if it joined the council of Gulf countries, it is understandable, despite the cultural and historical differences between them.
But when it comes to Morocco, a country located thousands of miles away from the Gulf region and which is thousand times different from the Gulf countries, it becomes enigmatic.
This initiative from the Gulf countries appears at first stroke and very unexpected and inexplicapble.
But if placed in the current context that we see in all the Arab countries after January 14, 2011, date of the flight of ousted of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to Saudi Arabia after 3 weeks of protests and popular uprising in Tunisia, which marked a decisive event in the history of all Arab countries.
Tunisian revolution we all know has inspired the Egyptian revolution, Yemeni, Libyan, Syrian, uprisings and protests in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Algeria and Morocco.
If we put ourselves in this context then we can understand.
The kings and emirs of the Gulf countries naturally see the fear of contamination Arab revolutions win their country and hate to see their petro-regimes dollard collapsed under popular uprisings.
They must therefore take all necessary precautions to stop the deluge of revolutions and stop the rebellion.
Why, then Morocco?
We know that Morocco is the only Arab African monarchy, like the Gulf countries and if this regime falls after a popular revolution, it will be a strong reason for Gulf Arab nations do the same thing because it would show that arabic monarchies can fall of a revolution with teh tunisian way.
This call is absurd and ridiculous from the Gulf countries to join the Morocco and indicates the degree of confusion and disarray in which these countries have arrived.
They should call this the "Union of Arab Reactionary Monarchies" instead. That would at least get people interested, and Reactionary Monarchists everywhere would want to join. :))

Japan and Thailand don't qualify. Even England had not one but two Revolutions, and Monaco was part of the French Republic for over 20 years.
I think the Union of Reactionary Monarchies needs to invite Swaziland, but that may be insulting to the Swazi monarchy. :))
